The famous Lost Coast trail gets more foot traffic on it's northern section, so if you are looking to get off the beaten path and explore the Sinkyone Wilderness, this is the trail for you. 17 miles and over 4,000 feet of gain and loss means that all hikers should be prepared for a physically strenuous adventure. Trekking poles and sturdy boots are highly recomended. Trail can be overgrown in the summer seasons, so come preparded to bush wack and watch out for ticks. Since there are no facilities or cell service, all visitors must pack in and pack out their own food and water (or water filter as there are several stream crossings) Make it an overnight trip and camp at Little Jackass or Wheeler campgrounds.
