Redwood Ecology Grants

Mendocino Land Trust (MLT) is excited to offer grant funding to qualifying schools in Mendocino County for a field trip focused on redwood ecology.

About the Program

MLT is committed to expanding understanding and appreciation of our unique redwood forests. By learning about redwood forests, students will be better equipped to be educated stewards of these forests in the future. Our grants are intended to provide partial funding for field trips to a redwood ecology-focused environmental education program administered in Mendocino County. In an effort to make outdoor education available to more students, these funds may be used for transportation, overnight accommodation, and instruction. Field trips can be conducted either in Fall 2026 or Spring 2027 but must be completed by Apr 25, 2027.

Grant Categories

• Single-day field trip: The grant can cover costs of registration and transportation.
• Overnight trip: Award per student of $100 to be used for a day focused on redwood ecology.

Eligibility

Any school in Mendocino County serving grades 3-8.

Grant Award Schedule

• Application deadline: Sep 25, 2026
• Award notification: Oct 2, 2026
• Project completion: Apr 25, 2027
• Final report: Within 14 days of the completion of the field trip or by Apr 28, 2027, whichever comes first.
