Conservation Easement: Popow Redwoods

This property was generously bequeathed to Mendocino Land Trust in 2025 by Sonya Popow, a locally renowned ceramic artist whose legacy now also includes protecting the beautiful redwood trees on the land she owned for over 50 years. The Popow Redwoods conservation easement covers her 2.3-acre property between Pudding Creek and the Noyo River just east of Fort Bragg, including her beloved “grandmother tree” in the backyard. MLT will ensure that these trees are never cut down, and will work with future property owners to restrict development and use of the property so that the redwoods and wildlife habitat will not be harmed.
