Kind travelers giving back to the local community
Visitors from across the globe are drawn to the remarkable scenic assets of Mendocino County’s beaches, bluffs, redwood forests, oak woodlands, vineyards, farms, and ranches. Mendocino Land Trust plays an important role in preserving thie breathtaking natural beauty on California’s rugged North Coast for future generations. Through conservation initiatives, public trail access, and habitat restoration, MLT safeguards our pristine forests, rugged bluffs views, and works to restore habitats in our vibrant inland waterways that support diverse wildlife. Importantly, we work to provide public access to these wild places by building trails and maintaining our preserves. MLT fosters a deeper connection between people and nature, encouraging outdoor recreation, appreciation for our natural world, and responsible stewardship.
MLT joined Kind Traveler‘s Every Stay Gives Back (ESGB) program in 2024. Kind Traveler is the leading responsible travel platform, empowering travelers to positively impact local communities when they stay with participating lodging partners. Through this program, our lodging partners turn every guest stay into an opportunity to fund our conservation and public access work in Mendocino County. The Kind Traveler program fosters destination stewardship and advances sustainable and regenerative tourism principles.
Every Stay Gives Back program involves a 3-way partnership between:
Participating Hotel
- Hotel donates $1- $5 per night of every guest stay (passed on to the guest during the booking process as a “community impact program” fee). In some cases, the Hotel may elect to match the “community impact program” fee with a donation of its own to double the community impact.
- All community impact funds raised through Every Stay Gives Back are collected by the participating Hotel and 100% is donated directly to MLT.
Mendocino Land Trust
- MLT mobilizes the funds in areas where it is needed the most.
- Promotes the Hotel’s business objectives in its website, newsletter and social media.
Kind Traveler Platform
- Provides 3rd party verification of the donation receipt/disbursement and provides the below Kind Traveler seal of approval for the Hotel to display on their website.
- Promotes the Hotel on their website and other platforms.
- Creates a community impact report and shares with the Hotel to further celebrate the positive impact created.
